Making the Cut

The Christmas cards this year were a catastrophe.  I know, dear readers, that you just read that statement in disbelief and for further proof of my idiocy, you are right now looking at our Christmas card, which you framed immediately after receiving because, my God!, the cuteness contained within needed to be preserved for eternity, but seriously, capturing that beauty was brutal, soul-killing work.

Here is a sampling of the pictures that didn't make the card:

Cute, right?

Ho hum.

How about this side, ladies?

Here comes trouble!

I am your leader!  I will not sit down!

At this point, we thought we found a few pictures that could possibly be card worthy, but the good people at Tiny Prints told us that the lighting or something wouldn't print well.  (I think this is just a stock euphemism for "Your kids are goofy.)

And so, photo session two:

Okay.  Maybe I will sit down.  Smile, no.

Smile, yes.  But wait, what is over there?

Holy Smokes!  What's up there?!

Whatever it is, let's continue to look at it and not at the camera.  (To be honest, I'm pretty sure that it's me that is "up there," performing some sort of physical hijinks to get this tough crowd to smile).

Oh, it's just mom.

Still no reason to look at  the camera.

Happy Holidays!
I hope they were as perfectly imperfect as ours.

We Be Buddin'

The latest on the latest Miller.  He eats cereal.

He smiles.  All the time.

He takes his style cues from Batman.

He looks like the love child of John Goodman and Chris Farley.

He likes to bounce his 16.5 pounds.

In case you are wondering what Audrey's been up to with all these Bud shenanigans going on, she likes to hang out in the kitchen cupboard, but she hates to be disturbed while doing so.  She also refuses to wear clothes.  At all times.

Guest Post: Sticking with You

Morning, all!  We here at Miller manor Northeast hope that you and your families are making a smooth transition into the fall.  Here's a quick video montage I put together that features some recent clips.  As you will see, Bud is getting bigger and Audrey is getting sassier.

Hi There!

I know I've been a neglectful blog hostess, but it's been a crazy, awesome, exhausting summer.

I hope to back to regular blogging soon.

Guest Post: Late Summer Slideshow

Here's a quick slideshow featuring highlights of the our July and August.  As you can see, we've been very busy (despite not actually working).  In addition to traveling out to Lake Winola, PA to visit Audrey and Bud's great-grandparents, we've been busying ourselves around Milford fishing (Alex), dissertating (Danica), and soiling ourselves (Audrey and Bud).  If you watch until the end, you'll also see that I recently painted Audrey and Bud's room (which took forever (yes, still angry)).

We hope you enjoy the slideshow, and if you have connection to the estate of Harry McClintock, we hope that you appreciate the artistic and educational applications of the appropriation of the song (legal disclaimer).  Also, if you live in CT and are interested in slaying some bass this fall aboard the Audrey Lou (the Miller family watercraft), shoot me an email.

Have a great last week of the summer (if you're teaching)!  And, if you're not teaching, reevaluate your career decision (seriously, I've been off for like 8 weeks...).

Still Crazy

Alex, circa December 1979 . . .

And Bud, circa about an hour ago . . .

Crazy, right?

And Audrey, not to be out done in the crazy department . . .

Video Blog: Budderbean Miller's Fathers' Day Gift

Here's a quick video with some recent Miller-family highlights.  As you can see, Audrey has embraced her role as big sister (and...apparently...lord of the dance).  Special appearances by 75% of Bud and Audrey's grandparents (expect the next video to cover the balance).

Just Like College

This was taken about two minutes before Bud spit up all over both of us.  This resulted in a bath on his part (during which he peed all over me) and a shower on my part.

The First Fortnight, More or Less

In honor of Bud's two-week birthday, I put together a photo montage of every day of his life thus far, except for days seven, eight, and thirteen.  On those days, I rested.

Day One

First Bath

Since I'm typing this with one hand, and probably will only have one hand available for the foreseeable future, my textual analysis will be light, but I promise the photos will more than compensate.

My Other Pretty Dress

Possibly the only picture of me from the Shaw-Lewis wedding that isn't NSFW.  Don't worry, I'll be posting those soon.

Attack of the Zombie Dad!

Scene One:  Cute father and daughter innocently enjoying themselves at the local yacht club.

Scene Two:  Dad suddenly turns into a zombie!

Escape from Zombie Dad!

You won't get these brains, Zombie Dad!

Too quick for Zombie Dad!

Scene Three:  Daughter decides to be a zombie, too.

Okay, Zombie Dad; I'll be your Zombie Daughter.

Scene Four:  The End

(Camera zooms in on the next member of Zombie Family)

Take One!

Audrey's first go with sponge curlers.

Audrey shoveling cheerios in her mouth + Yo Gabba Gabba = curls.

or at least curls on one side of her head.

This is just for the rehearsal; hopefully, tomorrow will yield more egalitarian results.

House: Hunted

Sometimes we drive by our new house and take pictures.  I'm sure this doesn't creep out the current resident at all.

Mother's Day Photo Highlights

The morning began typically enough.  Audrey peed through her diaper, soaking both parents as well as herself, thus ensuring that I would, indeed, change out of my pajamas at some point.  Alex then made a breakfast fit for a queen: bacon and pancakes fried in bacon grease.  Audrey wasn't super-cool with letting mom eat her bacon delight, but I somehow managed to shovel in most my breakfast with a squirming, tearful toddler on my lap.  Presents were then opened, oohs and ahhs expressed.

The Millers then loaded into the car and headed to the park.  I wore my pretty dress.

After playing in the park, we went for a long-for-super-pregnant-lady walk.

And Audrey got her first piggy back ride.

Another perfect Mother's Day for this mom (almost) squared.
