Road Trip!

In the always exciting page turner that is Audrey's sleep habits, we have somehow fallen into a pattern where she absolutely refuses to nap for me.  She happily naps at daycare, she quickly cuddles into dreamland for her dad, but for pregnant mom who could desperately use a nap herself?  No.  Not going to do it.  And because I depend upon Audrey's nap for getting work done, I've had to resort to driving Audrey around until she falls asleep, and then we hang out in the car while she dozes and I read, write, and, like right now, blog.

And here we are!

To be honest, considering that I spent the first year of Audrey's life getting her to nap by bouncing on a yoga ball while wearing her in the Ergo, our new nap routine doesn't seem at all that weird.

Guest Blogged

Despite my terribly busy schedule, I couldn't refuse my reading public when they asked, begged, and pleaded for me to guest blog over at Black Rock Parents, which you can find at http://blackrockparents.blogspot.com/.  And by reading public, I guess I mean my husband.  And by asked, begged, and pleaded, I mean my husband came home with ice cream.  Anyways, read my new blog post if you're interested in me, my views on restaurants in the Black Rock area, or *dangles figurative carrot* want to see some cute pictures of Audrey.

And here's something to tide you over until you click on the link:

Life's a Beach

Sunday we had a lovely playdate at the local beach.  Apparently, the local parents call the beach the sandbox, cause it's small for a beach, but it's more than adequate for a sandbox.

Audrey showed off her shoveling

and dumping skills.

Audrey and dad walked the beach looking for sunken treasure.

Then Audrey's new friend Nolan joined the festivities and we all learned that while Audrey may love shoveling, dumping, and treasure hunting, she hates, HATES, sharing.

Thanks, Nolan, for taking the mature two-year old high road and calmly giving into Audrey's tearful demands.

Black Rock Parents, Unite!

My knee jerk reaction to most of my husband's "plans" and "ideas" is a quick dismissal.  Often, his adventures soar high above constraints like time, energy, and practicality.  Add a toddler and a big ole pregnant lady to the bunch and these adventures have, on occasion, ended with everyone rather cranky and a certain someone quietly sobbing for Girl Scout cookies.

Sometimes, however, dear readers, sometimes, his ideas are equally awesome and practical.  On his behalf, I would like to introduce his new blog, Black Rock Parents http://blackrockparents.blogspot.com/.  This blog is dedicated to all the kid-friendly going-ons and shindigs and happenings in our neighborhood.  It's a blog where we can organize a play group or sell a tricycle.  I hope you all enjoy it!  Great job, Alex.

[Insert Meaningless Irish Phrase Here]

It's St. Patty's Day her in Millerland, and while I'm not the least bit Irish, I make up for it by being totally crazy competitive when it comes to dress up theme days at Audrey's daycare.  Case in point:

Shamrock pants and top.  (I am taking this photo while Audrey is watching herself on the video camera. How meta).

Now she wants to get her hands on my camera.

And, of course, awesome outerwear, as well.

I hope everyone has a great St. Patrick's day (or, also now known as, the week where both of Audrey's grandmas needed major surgery) and equally great green outfits!

And feel better, Grandmas!

Third Trimester!

Today I officially enter the third trimester!  Woah!  Where did the first and second trimester go?  The little Bud is not so little anymore.  Clocking in at least 2.5 pounds and 15 inches, he is the approximate size of a Chinese cabbage:

At our last Ob-Gyn appt, we found out that Bud is measuring almost two weeks bigger than typical for his gestational age.  Uh, I could have told you that.

Guess who else is measuring large?

Bring it, Spring!

We here at Miller Central are getting a wee bit anxious for the arrival of Spring.  Audrey's new walking skills demand to be tested on new terrain.  Yesterday we took a nice walk about a half block down our street, which in Audrey time - what with stumbles, rocks to ponder, grass to eat - took about a half an hour.

Ready, set, go!

Who's number #1?

Audrey looks more and more like her mother every day.

We realized that we needed to do some serious backyard maintenance,

which Audrey apparently hates.
