The Daily Audrey Says . . .

The Scene:  Putting Audrey to bed

Me:  Would you like some milk?

Audrey:  No.  I want juice.

Me:  You can't have juice before bed, but you can have some milk.

Audrey:  Are you serious?!

Other seriously cute Audrey moments:

This seriously cute moment brought to you by a lovely stay down at LBI with Grandpa and Grandma Miller.  Thanks for the lovely time!

The Daily Bud: Bud Rocks!

A few months ago Alex built an amazing container garden and then gallantly let me plant whatever I wanted.  Here is the current state of the Miller Vegetable Patch:

Lots of different tomatoes, three strawberry plants, enormous cabbage heads, lettuce galore, peppers of various varieties, and one absurdly large sunflower:  Hence:

Bud enjoying a little shade in the sunflower.

Also, Bud enjoying a little taste of dirt.  Nothing he likes to eat more than dirt.  Besides rocks, that is.

The Daily Audrey and Bud: Shares and Sharing

We are loving our CSA from Robert Treat Farm.  Every week we get a bountiful amount of veggies and some fruit.  Like most CSAs, we don't really get to choose what we will receive, the farm just gives us a "share" of whatever is ready to pick that week.  This is last week's share:

I forgot to put the cilantro, which was also included, in the first photo.

This photo mainly exists to show off how incredibly cute my kitchen curtains are.

As I attempted to clean and store the harvest, the kids got into the fresh veggie action, as well.

I was so excited to see them interested in prepping and "cooking" the food.  It was something they learned from just watching me and Alex, we have never had them help with food prep.  Ha, ha!  They are going to be my little kitchen helpers now.

Since this week's share, I have used the goods to make:
beet and goat cheese spinach salad
crab cakes and braised escarole with a side salad (I would call the escarole a let down, for sure).
strawberry rhubarb crisp,
which was legendary.
By far the best thing I have ever cooked in my life.

Here it is in all its beauty:

And here is the recipe, if anyone cares:  Most Best Crisp Ever

While I was making the crisp, things got quiet in the living room.  Always a bad sign.  I peeked in and this is what I found:

I'm sure the shenanigans will continue on as tomorrow we tackle the lettuce!

The Daily Audrey: Snuggles

Getting Audrey to sleep these last few weeks has been quite the uphill battle.  The routine has been:  dinner followed by no tv, usually a long walk, a rollicking bath, and then me singing (I know, poor thing) and patting her back.  Audrey will then fall asleep in about 10 to 90 minutes.  This is clearly not working.  Last night it didn't work at all.  Alex came home after an evening out with friends to find us all wide awake watching Spongebob at 9pm.  He took matters into his own hands.

This is what I found an hour later when I went to put a sleeping Bud down in his crib.

Sometimes only daddy snuggles will do.
