The Daily Audrey: Brand-New Haircut

Yesterday I picked up Audrey a little early from daycare.  I told her we were going to do a something special just the two of us.  She immediately started dancing around and jumping for joy.  She ran up to the daycare director and told her, "Miss Laura!  Me and my mom are going to do something special!"  When Miss Laura asked what exactly we would be doing, Audrey answered with cheerful enthusiasm, "I don't know!"  I told her we would be going to get her hair cut, which she had never had done professionally before.  She was sooooo excited!

Here she is before ...

And during ...

We were at the cutest little children's hair salon.  As Audrey rightfully noted, there was lots of pink.

And after:

Audrey had about four inches trimmed off the bottom and bangs cut.  The stylist kindly informed me that my previous attempts to cut Audrey's bangs (a full year ago) had probably messed up Audrey's hair for the foreseeable future.  What is it about motherhood that makes us think we are suddenly gifted with the ability to cut hair?

Also, check out Bud's new 'do!  Alex cuts Bud's hair because apparently fatherhood actually does give men the magical ability to cut hair.

Video Montage (belated): Fall 2012!

As usual, the Millers have been keeping themselves busy of late.  So busy, in fact, that I have had little time to compile, edit, and produce Miller family video montages.  Fortunately, I have also recently submitted a chapter of my dissertation, which means I'm now looking for ways to put off getting started on my final chapter.  Thus, having explained its origins, I present to you a video of some not-so-recent Miller adventures.  I've got footage covering Thanksgiving to Xmas as well, but I've decided to save that for a montage of its own.  As always, enjoy and stay tuned for more!

A Merry Little Christmas

I know I'm a little late with Christmas highlights ...

The festivities began Christmas Eve with an enormous 7lb prime rib for dinner.  Yup, that's seven pounds of meat for two people, as the littles refuse to eat anything quite so beastly.

Nary a non-pickled vegetable in sight.

What follows is possibly the cutest video of all time:

After dinner, we watched "It's a Wonderful Life."

Audrey and I replicating the dancing scene:

Then everyone opened one gift; coincidently, we all got pajamas!
Bud was really excited about this.

We set out milk and cookies for Santa, carrots for the reindeer.

Then Alex read, "Twas the Night Before Christmas" while the kids munched on stolen Santa cookies.

Finally, Christmas morning.  Audrey wouldn't go downstairs until she was wearing her black patent leather shoes.  That girl likes to be prepared.

Then things got a little blurry.  There were presents.  Unwrapping.  Cries of joy.  Cries of crying.  Breakfast.  More presents.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.  We missed you all!
